Work to build Hunterston House 4 miles south of
Largs next to the existing 13th century castle began in 1799 for
Eleanor & Robert Hunter. The completion of the house saw the
castle used as servant quarters.

The present day owners have reverted back to the castle
after British Nuclear Fuels took over much of the land and
