Rotterdam was the
first of two ships in this class built for the Holland America Line,
her sister ship Amsterdam entered service in 2001. These two
ships were slightly larger than the previous four 55,451-ton Statendam
class that entered service between 1992 and 1996.
This class
of cruise ship has 10 passenger decks, 2 pools, 6 bars, casino, fitness
center, 600 seat show lounge, 541 outside cabins with 160 having verandas,
117 inside cabins, can carry 1,316 passengers and a crew of 644.
Rotterdam is operated
on 10 & 12 night cruises out of Athens & Venice - various
destinations throughout the Mediterranean, Middle East & Black
Sea, 12 night cruises out of Harwich/England, Rotterdam & Copenhagen
- Eastern Europe & Scandinavia, and 16 or 20 night cruises between
Rio de Janeiro & Valparaiso/Chile.
Amsterdam’s
routes are 10 nights out of Copenhagen - Eastern Europe &
Scandinavia, 10 nights out of Fort Lauderdale - Bahamas, Caribbean,
Panama Canal & Costa Rica, and 15 night cruises from San Diego
- Hawaii. Occasional other cruises depart New York & Montreal
visiting the east coast of the US & Canada.
