Radiance of the Seas was the first of three cruise ships in this
class built for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. Her sister ships
Brilliance of the Seas entered service
in 2002 and Jewel of the Seas 2004. These three ships followed
RCCLs five giant 142,000-ton Voyager of the Seas class that entered
service between 1999 and 2003. With the Voyager class ships being
so large they cannot use the Panama Canal, RCCL had the Radiance class
designed to the maximum dimensions the canal can take.
Radiance has 12 passenger
decks, 3 pools, 9 bars, casino, fitness center, 900-seat theatre,
813 outside cabins of which 577 have verandas, 237 inside cabins,
can carry 2,100 passengers and a crew of 860.
Radiance is operated
on 6, 8 & 14 night cruises from Fort Lauderdale - Caribbean,
and 7 nights from Vancouver - Alaska. Other cruises are 14 nights
to the Panama Canal departing Los Angeles and 14 night Hawaii
cruises departing Los Angeles.
Brilliance
is operated out of Barcelona & Venice on 7, 12 &14 night
cruises - various ports throughout the Mediterranean. Other
cruises of 10, 11 &13 nights depart Miami - Caribbean &
Panama Canal.
Jewel
is operated out of Fort Lauderdale on 6 & 8 night
cruises - Florida, Bahamas, Caribbean & Mexico. 12 night
cruises out of Harwich / England take in Scandinavia, Eastern
Europe & various ports throughout the United Kingdom. Other
3 & 4 night cruises to Europe depart from Hamburg &
Oslo.
