Sun Princess
was the first of four cruise ships in this class built for Princess
Cruises. Her three sister ships, Dawn Princess
entered service in 1997, Sea Princess 1998 and
Ocean Princess 2000. These four sisters followed
Princess Cruises 70,285-ton Crown Princess and
Regal Princess that entered service in 1990 and
1991.
This class
of cruise ship has 10 passenger decks, 4 pools, 7 bars, casino,
fitness center, 550-seat theatre, 603 outside cabins of which
410 have balconies, 408 inside cabins, can carry 1,950 passengers
and a crew of 900.
Princess
operated all four ships from Vancouver or Seattle - Alaska.
Fort Lauderdale - Caribbean. Fort Lauderdale - San Diego or
Los Angeles via the Panama Canal. Ensenada/Mexico - Hawaii,
and San Juan/Puerto Rico - Southern Caribbean.
Ocean Princess
was transferred to the P&O fleet near the end of 2000 to
be operated in the ever-increasing British cruise market under
the name Oceana. She is mainly based Southampton in summer
for 7-15 night cruises - Iberia, Mediterranean & Canary
Islands. Later in the year, she is based at Barbados for passengers
to fly from Britain for 15&16 night cruises throughout the

Sun Princess
is operated on 7 night cruises out of Seattle - Alaska, and
10 nights from Fort Lauderdale - various destinations throughout
the Caribbean & Bahamas.
Sea
Princess was also transferred to P&O in 2003 to be
operated under the name Adonia. This ship was transferred
back to Princess Cruises late in 2005 to be operated under her
original name. She is now operated on 14 night cruises out of
Southampton/England - Scandinavia, Southampton - Mediterranean,
Fort Lauderdale - Caribbean & Bahamas, and Barbados - Caribbean
& Bahamas.
Dawn Princess is operated on 7 night cruises out of
San Diego - Mexico & West Coast, and 10 nights from San
Francisco - Alaska.
