Aida Vita was the first of two cruise ships in this
class built for P&O/Aida Cruises. Her sister ship Aida
Aura entered service in 2003.These two ships joined the
38,531-ton Aida Cara that entered service in 1996.
This class
of cruise ship has 9 passenger decks, 1 pool, 5 bars, fitness
center, show lounge, 633 cabins of which 66 percent are situated
on the outside with 60 having balconies, can carry over 1200
passengers and a crew of 420.
Aida Vita
and Aura will mainly be used for German speaking passengers
on cruises throughout the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean
in winter. Their Mediterranean cruises depart from Iraklion/Crete
and call at Thessaloniki/Greece, Istanbul/Turkey & the Islands
of Mykonos & Rhodes. Another Mediterranean route is from
Iraklion - Port Said/Egypt, Limassol/Cyprus, Beirut/Lebanon
& Marmaris/Turkey.
The Caribbean
cruises depart from the Dominican Republic and call at Road
Town/Tortola, Basseterre/St Kitts & Roseau/Dominica. Another
route from the Dominican Republic is to Kingston/St Vincent,
Bridgetown/Barbados, Port of Spain/Trinidad & St George’s/Grenada.
