Statendam was the first of four mid-sized sister ships built for the Holland America Line. The other three ships are Maasdam that entered service in 1993, Ryndam 1994 and Veendam 1996.

These four ships were the largest built for the Holland America Line at that time with 10 passenger decks, 2 pools, 5 bars, casino, fitness center, 600 seat show lounge, 485 outside cabins with 149 having verandas, 148 inside cabins, can carry 1,266 passengers and a crew of 602.

Statendam is mainly operated on 7 night cruises between Vancouver & Seaward/Alaska. Other routes are 24 night cruises from Los Angeles & San Francisco - Auckland/ New Zealand, and cruises between Auckland & Sydney/Australia.

Maasdam’s main routes are 7 night cruises between Montreal & Boston, and 10 nights from Fort Lauderdale - Caribbean.

Rayndam is operated on 7 night cruises between Vancouver & Seaward/Alaska, and 10 night cruises out of San Diego - Mexico.

Veendam’s main routes are Venice - Western Mediterranean, Copenhagen - Northern Europe, and Tampa - Caribbean.
