Costa Fortuna was the first of five ships in this class to enter
service for Costa Cruise Lines with the second Costa Magica entering
service late in 2004. The next three almost identical ships, although
at 112,000 tons, are Costa Concordia 2006, Costa Serena 2007
and a yet to be named ship to follow in 2009. These ships followed the
85,700 ton Costa Atlantica class that began entering service in 2000.
The Costa Fortuna class ships are the same hull design as the Carnival
Destiny class.
Fortuna has 12 passenger
decks, 3 pools, 11 bars, casino, fitness center, 3 floor theatre,
ballroom, 846 outside cabins with 522 having balconies, 512 inside
cabins, can carry 2,720 passengers and a crew of 1068.
Fortuna cruises out of Savona/Genoa on 7&11 night
cruises throughout the Mediterranean to ports such as Naples, Barcelona,
Palermo, Tunis, Palma de Mallorca, Marseille, Casablanca, Cadiz,
Gibraltar, Malaga, Arrecife, Tenerife, Funchal and Lanzarote. Seven
night Eastern Caribbean cruises
depart from Ft. Lauderdale.
Magica is mainly operated on 7 night cruises from Copenhagen
- Scandinavia and 7 night cruises out of Savona/Genoa - various
ports throughout the Mediterranean. She is also occasionally operated
on cruises out of Fort Lauderdale - Bahamas & Caribbean.
Concordia is mainly operated on 7&11 night cruises
out of Rome - various ports throughout the Mediterranean.
Serena is mainly operated on 7 night cruises out of Venice
- various ports throughout the Mediterranean and 10&11 night
cruises out of Genoa - various ports throughout the Mediterranean.
