Norwegian Star was the first of six cruise ships in this class
built for the Norwegian Cruise Line. Her sister ships Norwegian
Dawn entered service in 2002, Norwegian Jewel 2005, Pride
of Hawaii 2006, Norwegian Pearl 2007 and Norwegian Gem
will follow in 2008. These ships followed NCLs previous largest ship,
the 78,309 ton Norwegian Sun that entered service in 1999.
This class of cruise ship has 11 passenger decks, 2 pools, 14 bars, fitness
center, 1,000 seat theatre, 761 outside cabins of which 511 have balconies,
359 inside cabins, can carry 2,240 passengers and a crew of 1,100.
Norwegian Star is operated on 7 night cruises out of Seattle -
Alaska, and 8 night cruises out of Los Angeles - Mexico.
Norwegian Dawn's main route is 7 night cruises from New
York - Bahamas & Florida's east coast, 10&11 nights from New York
- Bahamas & Caribbean, and 7 nights from New York - East Coast &
Canada.
Norwegian Jewel is operated 7 nights out of Barcelona - various
Mediterranean ports and 7 nights out of Miami - Caribbean.
Norwegian Pearl is operated on 7 night cruises out of Seattle
- Alaska and 5 & 9 nights out of Miami - Caribbean.
Pride of Hawaii will mainly be operated on 7 night cruises throughout
Hawaii from the port of Honolulu.
