Following the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s takeover
of Celebrity Cruises in 1997, Millennium was the first
of four cruise ships in this class built for Celebrity Cruises
under their new parent company. The other three sister ships
are Infinity that entered service in 2001, Summit
also 2001 and Constellation 2002. These four ships
followed Celebrity’s two 77,713-ton Galaxy class that
entered service in 1996 and 1997.
Millennium class ships have 11 passenger decks, 3 pools,
8 bars, casino, fitness center, 870-seat theatre, 764 outside
cabins with 570 having balconies, 206 inside cabins, can carry
1,940 passengers and a crew of 999.
Millennium is mainly operated on 7 night cruises out
of Fort Lauderdale - Bahamas & Caribbean, and 12 nights
out of Barcelona & Venice - various ports throughout the
Mediterranean & Agean seas. Occasional routes are between
Buenos Aires/Argentina & Valparaiso/Chile.
Infinity is mainly operated on 7 night cruises from
Vancouver - Alaska, and 7 nights from Fort Lauderdale - Puerto
Rico, Florida, Bahamas & Caribbean. Occasional routes
are 14 nights from San Diego - Hawaii, 13 & 14 nights
between Buenos Aires/Argentina & Valparaiso/Chile, and
14 nights from Los Angeles - Mexico, Panama Canal & Caribbean.
Summit is operated on 7 night cruises from Seaward/Alaska
- Vancouver, 7 nights from Vancouver - Alaska, 14 nights
from Los Angeles - Mexico, Panama Canal & Southern Caribbean,
14 nights from Fort Lauderdale - Mexico, Panama Canal &
Southern Caribbean, and 14 nights from Los Angeles - Hawaii.
Constellation is operated on 7 night cruises out of
San Juan/Puerto Rico - Southern Caribbean, 11 nights from
Bayonne/New Jersey - Canada & East Coast, 11 & 12
nights from Cape Liberte - Bahamas & Caribbean, 10 &
11 nights from Fort Lauderdale - Caribbean & Mexico, and
14 nights out of Dover/England - Eastern Europe & Scandinavia.
