The images here are of a 1996 conversion by Aston Martin Works Service. For this rare model, they enlarged the engine to 6.3 litres during 1992. As well as the more powerful engine, the body was converted with flaired wheel arches along with larger OZ split rim wheels and up rated brakes. Many people think the wide body Volante looks much better than it's 6.3 coupe brother. The wide body cars were normally fitted with the 6.3 litre engines although a few were fitted with the 5.3. engine. It is hard to tell them apart.

Three examples of the Virage Volante are believed to have been built with the 6.3 litre engine but with standard bodies. The Virage Volante was produced from about 1992 - 1997 with the most expensive being the one off 1996 silver Diamond Jubilee car valued at £500,000.

The most powerful of the Virage or Vantage V8s was the Twin Supercharged Vantage producing 550 bhp making it one of the most powerful cars available at the time. The last Newport Pagnell big Aston V8, a special edition Vantage Volante, was completed in November 2000, this ending the era of the hand built Aston's.
