Jaguar X-TypeThe X-Type is the smallest Jaguar so far. This model first began production in 2001 (as a 2002 model) soon after ford took over Jaguar's Halewood facility in England. The X-TYPE was designed as a direct competitor to the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. In early 2004, Jaguar unveiled an estate version of the X-Type making it the first ever Jaguar estate car, in addition to the first to use a diesel engine. This traditional Jaguar look, based on the larger XJ series, is now being fitted with larger alloy wheels and body styling kits making an impressive looking sports saloon. With a choice of two bodystyles – curvaceous saloon or sporty estate - the Jaguar X-Type delivers a level of power and refinement unequalled in this class. There are four engines to choose between; the 2.5 litre or 3.0 litre V6 petrol units, and the 2 litre and 2.2 litre diesel engines. They also come in 6 levels of trim and key standard equipment – Classic for the entry level Diesel Saloon; S, Sport, SE and Sport Premium for both Saloon and Estate; plus the new Sovereign specification for the 3 litre petrol and 2.2 litre Diesel saloons.
